3D Puzzle game

In Thunderclap you play as Spark, a young inventor seeking to join a guild of lightning mages. Spark does not have magic, but she does have a set of gadgets she invented that emulate lightning abilities. Use these gadgets to pass an array of tests so that you may join the guild.My Roles: Game Design, Technical Design, Narrative

Design Process Overview

Part I : Game Design Goal

The goal of Thunderclap was to use a classic game experience to teach the fundamentals of real electrical discharge.
My objective here was to test the ability of "thematic disguise", using a entertainment focused game to deliver an educational reward.
Thus the game had to emulate real lightning behavior in its mechanics.

Part II : Technical Design

Three major participants can be identified in lightning discharge - the source, the conductor and the end. My approach to technical design to meet the design goals was to create a node based system, where each node behaved like one of the three participants.

Part III : Implementation

The major advantage of the node system was that as long as components were created using different combinations of the three nodes, they would always follow the fundamentals of real electrical discharge that the game was centered around.

Twisted Ladder

Twisted Ladder is an educational game intended to help college level biology students distinguish between different categories of DNA visualizations based on scale and abstraction. I worked as sole developer to design and build three minigames targeting different methods of distinguishing these diagrams.Roles: Game Design, Game Development

Play as an artifical intelligence in a drop pod. Your companion is the only survivor of the explosion of a migratory spaceship. Keep him calm as you find a final resting place for him.

Beyond Frontiers : Star's End

competitive game

"On that day, our future was shattered."Play with and against your "allies" to salvage the wreckage of a destroyed fleet for information and equipment. The game follows an action point system. Players move their ships across an area of space equipping gear and deciphering data on six planets that bear a precious resource. Those who land on the planet with the most of it, win the game.Roles: Game Design, Narrative
